In July get ready for “Beach Days!” Grab your beach ball and put on your imaginary sunscreen - Beach Days are here! In this unit, we'll explore the sights and sounds found at the beach through songs, dances, vocal play, instruments and listening activities. Get ready to wiggle your toes in the sand, scuttle like a crab and listen to the surf rolling in. Just like a day at the beach this unit is full of sun, fun and play!
Then in August it’s time to get “Down on the Ground”. Children are closer to the ground and often notice a world of creatures that we can easily miss! We're joining the kiddos in this unit, engaging with their natural curiosity as we do fingerplays with spiders, hop with grasshoppers and bunnies, lumber with bears, and crawl with the caterpillars (until all of us become butterflies). We'll move high and low like squirrels, play with nonsense words, and walk around our pretend neighborhood listening to the soundscape all around us.
Join us for one month or BOTH! Summer Sessions are $85 per month and require a $25 deposit to save your space in class. The balance ($60 per month) is not due until summer.
What’s so fun about All Ages music class:
Singing. When a child sings in the appropriate vocal range, toddlers and preschoolers begin to explore their voices and emerging pitch accuracy—but the benefits go beyond building strong singers. Singing develops memory and recall, lung and cardiovascular strength, as well as creativity, and socialization. Simply hearing those voices also helps a baby develop her own vocal skills.
Playing. Musical instrument and prop-play throughout the semester builds strong finger muscles, and develops a sense of rhythm. Plus bilibos, parachutes, scarves, and tumble-around activities develop coordination.
Moving. With growing coordination and interest in their peers, younger children will watch the older ones learn how to skip and gallop. Everyone will benefit from the focus on gross motor movement!
Listening. Throughout the class, the children are listening to instruments, to each other, and to specially designed opportunities to focus in on developing critical listening skills.
Story Time. When children listen to a story in a group, they watch the reactions of each other, helping to stimulate curiosity, expand knowledge, and develop a life-long love of reading.
Family Jam. Everyone grabs an instrument and plays along with the music—helping children experiment with a variety of instruments and sounds.
